Jim Maupin, with a scratch built PT 17 Stearman, ¼ scale and it was finished in the Navy color scheme and with the markings of the Stearman that was used in the “JAG” television series.
Assembly Pictures of the Scratch Built PT-17 Stearman by Jim Maupin. “The Jag Stearman”

The first step was to get a set of plans from Nick Zorolli for the 1/4 scale Stearman. From the plans I then redrew all of the parts into a cad program called Auto CAD. I was then able to actually have the parts cut on a metal cutting laser machine that I had access to when I still worked at Cincinnati Incorporated. You can see in some of pictures some part identifications that were etched on the parts by the laser.

This is the front of the fuselage showing the motor mount and the gas tank installation. All of the fuselage formers are in place and the stringers are being added.Bottom view of the mid section of the fuselage showing all of the different types and shapes of formers.Starting to add the stringers to the fuselageThe rear of the fuselage showing the saddle for the stabilizerhis is the rear stabilizer and the elevator assembly. The width of the stabilizer is about 36”.
Another view of the fuselage assembly front, left side.Another view of the fuselage assembly, rear, left side. This view shows the fuselage completed with the landing gear in place, fuselage sheeting completed and the main wing center struts installed.View of the bottom of the fuselage showing the push rods to the rudder and elevators.View showing the installation of the servos for the elevators, rudder and throttle.View showing the installation of the rudder and tail wheel.Close up view of one of the front wheels, these are Robart Oleo Struts.
This is the bottom wing, assembly complete and ready for covering. All covering was done with Top Flite Monokote. The top wing is complete and covered.Initial pilot but later changed my mind to a more realistic pilot. I did use the monkey in a later plane project.“Jag Stearman” assembly complete and ready for the first flight.
